Why OEKO-TEX®?

The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 standard was developed at the beginning of the 1990s to compensate the needs of consumers and healthy public textile products in general. Negative headline news such as "Toxic Textiles" at the beginning was very popular at that time, and the chemicals used in textile production were generally negative and harmful to health.

However, our demand for modern textile products can not be compensated without the use of certain chemical substances. Fashionable colors, easy maintenance, longevity and many other features in textile products are nowadays being demanded and partly indispensable for the purpose of use (for example, work clothes).

Until the implementation of the OEKO-TEX® Standards 100 standard, neither a Product Label to assess the quality of the textile's quality for human consumption nor a standard criterion to enable practicable assessment of possible harmful substances in textile products for companies operating in the Textile and Clothing Sector. For this reason, the Austrian textile research institute Österreichische Textil-Forschungsinstitut (ÖTI) and the German research institute Forschungsinstitut Hohenstein have developed the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 standard based on these test standards in their hands.
